The Rorschach Test was originally invented by Hermann Rorschach (1884-1922) as a psychology/personality test. A patient will look into a series of 10 inkblots and say what they see, their psychiatrist will then use what the patient sees in the inkblots as a reflection of the patient's fantasies, personality, and their current mental state.
GH found this to be a delightful way of beginning abstract surreal works. He not only possessed the required imagination as evidenced by countless other abstractions, but also the skill to refine his impressions presented by his paint-blots into a style uniquely his own. This technique provided GH with inspiration for over forty individual works which he produced from 1977 through 1984. Play psychiatrist for the next few pages and peer into the sometimes humorous, other times dark, yet always entertaining mind of Glen Heberling.
